Frugal Summer boredom busters!

Here’s a BIG List of Frugal Summer Fun Ideas for Kids…

Read a Good Book!

Check the summer reading program at the Multnomah County Library                                                       Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program = FREE Book!
  • Catch a Cheap Movie!

Get Creative!

Get Building!

Go Bowling!

Check Out a Fun Website! {and before anyone says anything, no I am NOT advocating spending your summer in front of a computer, but there are times when it's just too hot!  Or, if you live in Oregon, there are times that it will rain in the middle of summer and you need to just rest indoors!}

More Boredum Busters…You could even make a jar full of ideas… and pull one out each day!

  • Run through the sprinkler
  • Fly a kite
  • Paint the Fence, Rocks, Tree Truncks, etc. with paintbrushes from the $1.00 store… and use Water {instead of paint}!
  • Go for a Bike Ride
  • Blow bubbles
  • Walk to the park
  • Take a scooter ride around the block
  • Look for fun shapes in the clouds
  • Lemonade Stand {a childhood right of passage, if you ask me}
  • Have fun with sidewalk chalk
  • Play with a friend
  • Earn Chuck E. Cheese’s FREE Tokens!
  • Go to the beach
  • Go to the lake
  • Take a dip in the community pool
  • Relax in the backyard inflatable pool
  • Sign up for a fun, inexpensive class through your city
  • Plant a garden!
  • Pick some flowers & make a bouquet
  • Have a tea party
  • Have a nerf gun fight
  • Have a picnic outside for lunch!
  • Go fishing
  • Go on a scavenger hunt
  • Hoola Hoop!
  • Make a fort using chairs, blankets, sheets, etc!
  • 6/21 ~ get in to a National Park for FREE!
  • Give the kids some rags and put water and soap on the kitchen floor and let them slip and slide around in their suites {fun for them, clean floor for you}
